About The Brand

Tudor watches are actually the “sister brand” of Rolex, having been originally created to be a more affordable option to the higher end Rolex’s. However, over the years, Tudor has developed a unique style and elegance and attracts a certain pedigree of consumer – just like its parent brand, resulting in it being considered one of the top luxury watch brands around the globe today. After all, if a watch can catch the attention of celebrities and A-listers such as David Beckham and Lady Gaga, there’s no question it has to offer something unique and special.

History of Tudor Watches

Based in Geneva, Tudor watches is a sub-brand of Rolex, originally registered in 1926 by Hans Wilsdorf, who is best known for founding Rolex SA. In the beginning, Tudor was positioned to be a more affordable alternative to Rolex watches. Today, Tudor and Rolex are sister companies, both owned by the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation. In 1954, Tudor’s Oyster Prince Submariner was introduced. This tool watch continuously evolved to meet the needs of divers over the years. During the decades between the 1960s and 1980, there were several navies issuing Tudor Submariners to divers, including the elite SEALs of the U.S. Navy, and the Marine Nationale, or French Navy. From 1969 to 1999, over 20 different Tudor Submariner references were produced. In 2015, Tudor released their first in-house caliber, MT5621, a self-winding caliber with a bidirectional rotor system.

Tudor Watch Models

As robust tool watches, Tudor models for men and women are found in classic materials like stainless steel, with some special editions in bronze, carbon, and yellow gold. Featuring either metal bracelets or high-end leather and fabric straps, these durable pieces are made for the everyday.

  • Black Bay

Launched in 2012, Tudor’s Black Bay collection is a modern interpretation of the Submariner and originally included the first Black Bay Heritage model as well. Featuring more than 12 different variations, the Black Bay family includes Chronograph, the Fifty-Eight, Bronze, and other models. In 2018, Tudor released its first dual time zone watch, the Black Bay GMT. This stainless steel model has a blue and red bezel and snowflake hands.

  • Black Bay Fifty-Eight

Paying tribute to their first divers’ watches, the Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight collection has deservedly attracted the attention of collectors and enthusiasts around the world. These pieces are fitted with a Tudor manufacture caliber and are designed for slim wrists and people who appreciate compact watches and vintage style. Additionally, this piece is offered in a solid 18ct yellow gold iteration, a first of its kind for a Tudor dive watch.

  • Black Bay Bronze

Inspired by Tudor’s naval history and the brass aesthetic of old ships and equipment, the Black Bay Bronze is a 43mm divers watch equipped with the manufacture caliber MT5601. This handsome model also features a dial that’s reminiscent of the brand’s diving pieces from the 1950s. Lastly, its winding crown with no crown-guard is similar to Tudor’s first generation of dive watches.

  • Fastrider

Tudor’s Fastrider collection is inspired by motorsport. These eye-catching models feature a chronograph function and are known for their yellow, red, or green dials.

  • Heritage

Tudor offers an array of Heritage collections like the Heritage Ranger, Heritage Chronograph, and Heritage Advisor. Each pulls design inspiration from Tudor collections of the past.

  • Submariner

The Submariner was introduced in 1954 as the first diving watch from Tudor. This collection was produced until 1999, which is why pre-owned is the only way to own this model today.

  • Classic

Featuring models like the 1926, Clair De Rose, Style, Glamour Double Date, and more, Tudor Classic offers an assortment of elegant watches for men and women.

What Makes a Tudor Watch So Appealing?

As time has passed, Tudor’s watch has become more well-known for its tool watches, having produced watches for both military members and professional divers. Today the Tudor brand is still known for being “related” to Rolex, and this watch is sought after by those with exclusive taste, and who still want a precise, yet elegant timepiece.

Why Should You Buy Pre-Owned Tudor Watches?

Purchasing a Tudor watch will allow you to join the elite club of individuals who have exquisite taste and who appreciate the finer things in life. However, rather than buying new, which could result in immediate depreciation of your watch, consider buying used Tudor watches from WatchBox. This company keeps a wide array of vintage and newer model Tudor watches in stock, all in like-new condition. This provides you with the same quality watch, and the ability to purchase a timepiece that the U.S. Navy has used.
