Pre-Owned Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5990

Introduced at Baselworld in March 2014, the Patek Philippe Nautilus Travel Time Chronograph Ref. 5990/1A replaced the steel-bracelet Ref. 5980/1A. It combined a self-winding flyback chronograph with Patek Philippe's Travel Time mechanism, an analog date synchronized to local time, and separate day/night indications for local and home time. Its CH 28-520 C FUS calibre uses a column wheel and disk clutch. Local time adjusts forward or backward in one-hour increments without disturbing the going train. Accommodating this system required a substantial reworking of the earlier Nautilus chronograph layout: the date moved from the 3 o'clock aperture to an analog display at 12, while the display at 6 became a 60-minute chronograph counter. The redesign added 47 components while increasing movement height by only 0.3 mm. Patek Philippe expanded the reference in 2021 with the full rose-gold 5990/1R-001 and its blue sunburst dial. In 2022, the steel 5990/1A-011 succeeded the discontinued gray and black-dial 5990/1A-001, introducing a blue-gray sunburst dial with a black-gradient rim and an updated bracelet clasp with lockable adjustment.
