Pre-Owned Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 3712

The Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 3712/1A arrived in 2005 as the first large-size Nautilus to combine three complications: a power-reserve indicator, moon phase, and analog date. Its blue-to-black gradient dial arranges those displays asymmetrically, with the power reserve near 10 o'clock, date and moon phase near 7 to 8 o'clock, and small seconds near 4 to 5 o'clock. Produced through 2006, the stainless steel Ref. 3712 uses the self-winding Calibre 240 PS IRM C LU, the first application of Patek Philippe's Calibre 240 family in a complicated Nautilus. The movement has a 22K-gold micro-rotor, 29 jewels, and the Geneva Seal. Its 42 mm, two-piece monobloc-style case incorporates a sapphire display back, a construction replaced by the three-part case of the succeeding Ref. 5712. The brief production run left several details that collectors study closely. Early dials show three red dots at the low end of the power-reserve scale, while later dials have four. The 3712 also retains a small applied marker at 7 o'clock, made possible by its smaller date ring and omitted from the Ref. 5712.
