Pre-Owned Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 3710

Patek Philippe introduced the Nautilus ref. 3710/1A in 1998, restoring the 42 mm Jumbo format eight years after production of the original 3700 ended. Produced through 2006, the 3710 became the first Nautilus with a complication beyond the date, combining central seconds with an unusual power-reserve display. Its automatic calibre 330 SC IZR uses an Indication de Zone de Remontage, or winding-zone indicator. Positioned asymmetrically between 11 and 12 o'clock, a graduated disc rotates during winding while a pointer tracks the discharge of power. Collectors know the display as the "Comet Tail," or simply the "Comet." The smooth matte-black dial departs from the familiar horizontally ribbed Nautilus treatment. Applied luminous Roman numerals and a railroad minute track frame the display, while the Patek Philippe signature moves to 6 o'clock to leave room for the power reserve. Regular production followed one configuration: stainless steel, an integrated steel bracelet and a black dial. The calibre has 30 jewels, was developed for this reference and was not reused in another Patek Philippe model after the 3710 was discontinued.
