Pre-Owned Patek Philippe Grand Complications Ref. 5159J

Patek Philippe announced Ref. 5159 in April 2007 as a 38 mm officer-style perpetual calendar, replacing the 36 mm Ref. 5059. The yellow-gold Ref. 5159J combines a retrograde date, moon phase, day, month, leap-year indication, and the center sweep seconds hand that Patek Philippe identified as uncommon among perpetual calendars. Its dial has a hand-guilloché sunburst center, silvery opaline ground, elongated black Roman numerals, calendar apertures, and a moon-phase display at 6 o'clock. The retrograde hand crosses a 270-degree arc before returning to 1 at each month's end. The April 2007 launch specification used calibre 315 S QR, while documented early Ref. 5159J examples also exist with calibre 324 S QR. The calibre should therefore be identified from the individual watch rather than assigned solely by reference suffix or production year. A solid-gold hinged dust cover protects the sapphire display back, while a fluted crown bears the Calatrava cross.
