Pre-Owned Patek Philippe Grand Complications Ref. 5140G

From 2006 through 2016, Patek Philippe produced the self-winding Ref. 5140G perpetual calendar with a case crafted in 18K white gold. Announced in March 2006 as the modern successor to the Ref. 3940, it enlarged the case from approximately 36 mm to 37.20 mm and replaced the earlier reference's concave bezel with a convex profile. The original 5140G-001 paired that case with a silvery opaline dial, 12 white-gold baton markers, white-gold dauphine hands, and black-nickel-plated hands for the 24-hour and leap-year displays. Its compact dimensions and restrained dial distinguish it from the larger, Breguet-numeral Ref. 5327G that followed. Inside is the micro-rotor Caliber 240 Q, a 3.88 mm-thick self-winding movement comprising 275 parts and 27 jewels. It displays the day, date, month, leap year, day/night indication, and moon phase. The perpetual calendar has a 1,461-day mechanical memory and requires no calendar correction until 2100, while the moon phase is calculated to deviate by one day after 122 years and 45 days. Patek Philippe supplied the reference with a sapphire display back, an interchangeable solid-gold back, and an ebony-and-white-gold correction stylus. Early examples bear the Geneva Seal, while later production reflects Patek Philippe's transition to its own seal.
