Explore the pre-owned Patek Philippe Grand Complications Ref. 5059G, an automatic perpetual-calendar wristwatch produced in two notably different white-gold executions. Introduced in 1998 as the successor to Ref. 5050, the 5059 continued Patek Philippe's serially produced retrograde perpetual-calendar line. References 5050 and 5059 were the first Patek Philippe perpetual calendars since references 2497 and 2438-1 to feature sweep center seconds. Its 36 mm officer-style case combines elongated screwed lugs with a hinged solid-gold cover, which opens to reveal a sapphire display back. The standard 5059G-001 ran from 1998 through 2006 and pairs a white Roman-numeral dial with the self-winding 315 S-QR calibre and its 21K-gold rotor. Its indications include retrograde date, day, month, moon phase, year indication, and center seconds. The rarer 5059G-018, made from 2014 through 2018 for the limited Vintage Collection associated with Patek Philippe's 2015 Saatchi Gallery exhibition, has a rose or salmon dial with a cleaner 5050-style layout. Most examples use calibre 324 S QR, although a documented out-of-series watch houses a new-old-stock 315 S QR movement.
