Explore the Patek Philippe Gondolo Ref. 5098P, a platinum manual-wind watch with a tonneau-shaped case, silver guilloché dial, black Arabic hour markers, and hours and minutes functions. Launched at Baselworld in 2007, it revived the Chronometro Gondolo name 80 years after the last historical watch in the series was delivered to Rio de Janeiro. Its design draws on a 1925 Chronometro Gondolo, expressed through a gently cambered 42 mm by 32 mm platinum case, curved sapphire crystal, and exhibition back. The rhodiumed-gold dial is also cambered, with hand guilloché across its center and outer zones and signed cartouches at 12 and 6 o'clock. Patek Philippe developed the manually wound calibre 25-21 REC specifically for this reference, its first simple form movement since comparable shaped calibres of the 1930s and 1940s. The movement's architecture includes an S-shaped minute-wheel bridge and slender bridges for the escape and fourth wheels. Early watches bear the Poinçon de Genève, while examples made after the introduction of the Patek Philippe Seal in 2009 carry the newer standard.
