Pre-Owned Patek Philippe Complications Ref. 5170J

The Patek Philippe Ref. 5170J is a yellow-gold manually wound chronograph from the Complications collection, produced from 2010 through 2014. Introduced at Baselworld in 2010, it was the first men's chronograph fitted with caliber CH 29-535 PS, following the movement's debut in the ladies' Ref. 7071. Patek Philippe describes this caliber as its first classic chronograph movement developed and produced in its own workshops. Its traditional column-wheel and horizontal-clutch architecture runs at 4 Hz and incorporates six patented innovations. Patek Philippe placed the movement in a round, Calatrava-style case with rectangular pushers inspired by its highly collectible chronographs of the 1940s. The regular-production 5170J-001 pairs a silver-white opaline dial with applied Roman numerals at 12 and 6, recessed subsidiary registers, and a pulsometer calibrated for 15 heartbeats. A separate execution, the 5170J-010, was a 50-piece pre-series made for Beyer Chronometrie's 250th anniversary in 2010. It is identified by blue chronograph hands, a blue tachymeter scale, a Beyer-signed dial, and an additional engraved solid caseback. The yellow-gold reference was discontinued in 2014, while the broader 5170 line later continued in other metals.
