1981 marked Patek Philippe's move to a 37.5mm mid-size Nautilus, powered for the first time by a fully in-house automatic movement. The reference 3800 ran for 25 years across four calibers, starting with the 335 SC, gaining a quick-set date in 1987 and the Geneva Seal in 1992, and was produced in stainless steel, 18k yellow gold, and two-tone configurations with more than twenty documented dial variants.
