The Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse ref. 5028G is a compact white-gold dress watch produced from 1997 through 2003, with fewer than 500 examples made. Patek Philippe introduced the Golden Ellipse in 1968, shaping its case between a circle and a rectangle according to proportions associated with the golden ratio. Ref. 5028G applies that profile to an unusual black dial with white Arabic numerals, an inner railway minute track, and continuously running eccentric seconds at 4 o'clock. Produced exclusively in 18K white gold and described by Collectability as a single variation, the 5028G measures 31 mm across by 36 mm long. Inside is the automatic calibre 240 PS, a 27-jewel movement whose off-center micro-rotor supports the watch's slim dress-watch form. Its concept closely parallels the round Calatrava ref. 5000G, but the elongated Golden Ellipse case gives the shared black-dial, eccentric-seconds design a different character.
