Introduced in rose gold in 2006, the Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 5296R brought the 1930s-inspired design of the 5296 into a 38 mm case suited to modern daily wear. Its long production run through 2019 encompassed several clearly differentiated executions. The 5296R-001 uses a two-tone silvered sector dial with black baton markers, blued-steel hands, center seconds, a date at 3 o'clock, and an outer railway-style five-minute track. The 5296R-010 followed in 2007 with a more conventional silvered or opaline dial, applied gold baton markers, and dauphine hands, drawing inspiration from the historic Ref. 570. Rare retailer editions broadened the reference further: the 25-piece Pisa Milano 5296R-011, the 15-piece Somazzi anniversary 5296R-012 with brown dial, and the 50-piece Hausmann & Co. 5296R-016 with grey sunburst dial. Most examples use a self-winding movement from the Patek Philippe calibre 324 S C family, visible through a sapphire display back. The discontinued reference combines rose-gold warmth with a compact case, central seconds, and date.
