Pre-Owned Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 3520

The Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 3520 is a compact, manually wound, time-only dress watch produced from 1965 through 2008. Introduced in 1965, it was advertised as the world's flattest waterproof wristwatch, with a screw-down case back supporting that claim. Its 32 mm case appeared in yellow gold, pink gold, white gold, and platinum, while the long production run encompassed several clearly different executions. The original 3520 used a flat bezel and was generally paired with straight lugs and a leather strap. The 3520D added the Clous de Paris hobnail bezel, Roman numerals, and straight strap lugs. Integrated-bracelet versions included the 3520/10 and 3520/12; a documented 1968 white-gold 3520/12 has a bark-finished case and bracelet attributed to Jean-Pierre Ecoffey. Early watches used the Piguet-based calibre 175 through 1977, followed by the Geneva Seal calibre 177. Archived records still show white-gold 3520DG and yellow-gold 3520DJ models in 2008, shortly before the reference was discontinued. Collectors should therefore read the full execution, dial, metal, movement series, and bracelet or strap configuration rather than treating every Ref. 3520 as the same watch.
