WonderCare Frequently Asked Questions
How does WonderCare work through The 1916 Company?
The 1916 Company is not an insurance agency. We've partnered with WonderCare to connect our clients with their insurance platform. All insurance services are provided solely by WonderCare and its licensed insurance partners. The 1916 Company does not make recommendations, sell, solicit, or negotiate insurance.
What collections does WonderCare cover?
Chubb’s policy covers both watches and fine jewelry purchased through WonderCare on The 1916 Company site. Whether you're protecting a Rolex or a piece of fine jewelry, the same comprehensive all-risk policy applies.
Why can't I rely on my homeowner's policy?
Most homeowner's policies cap coverage for watches and jewelry at $1,000–$5,000 total — far below the value of most pieces in our clients' collections. Their policy provides all-risk coverage with no deductible and no cap tied to your home policy, meaning you're fully protected for the actual value of what you own.
Is there a deductible?
No. This is a $0 deductible policy. Adding a deductible is not an available option.
What does 'all-risk' coverage mean?
All-risk coverage protects against most causes of loss — including accidental damage, loss, theft, and mysterious disappearance. If your watch is broken, you can't find a piece of jewelry, or an item is stolen, the insured item will be covered.
Do I need appraisals for my jewelry or watches?
Appraisals are required only for items valued at $100,000 or more. When purchasing through The 1916 Company with WonderCare interest noted, relevant information is shared automatically — though additional details may be requested to ensure adequate coverage.
Does my coverage protect against value increases?
Yes. If the market value of a covered item increases before a loss, the policy pays market value at time of loss — up to 150% of the insured value, but no more than the policy limit. Because values fluctuate, we recommend periodically reviewing and updating the insured value of high-value pieces.
Am I covered while traveling? Yes. Valuable articles insurance through WonderCare provides worldwide coverage. Your watches and jewelry are protected at home and abroad.
Can The 1916 Company help with my replacement after a claim? Yes. WonderCare is a partner of The 1916 Company. If you opt in to notify us of a claim, our team can begin working on your replacement immediately — leveraging our relationships with the brands you love.
