watchuwant.com’s Watches and Whiskey Evenings Take Chicago By Storm
Luxury watch leader watchuwant.com wowed the Windy City on October 8 and 9 with two nights of luxury watch showcase events for clients, friends, and new watch enthusiasts.
The series of hands-on luxury lifestyle experiences highlighted watchuwant’s peerless inventory of premier timepieces and debuted the new WuW Events traveling expo that will be sweeping the nation deep into the 2014 holiday season.

watchuwant.com deployed a team of three luxury watch specialists to stage an unprecedented pair of hands-on experiences at two of Chicago’s most renowned social scenes: RPM Steak and the Union League Club of Chicago.
Led by watchuwant.com Founder and CEO OJ Whatley, WuW Lead Watch Buyer Josh Thanos, and Horology Officer Tim Mosso hosted two nights of engaging “show-and-tell” for a court of luxury watch enthusiasts, admirers, and curious newcomers to the watch scene.
Although none of the timepieces were for sale at the events, (WuW Events are staged for goodwill purposes exclusively), the depth of interaction between participants provided opportunities, impressions, and memories beyond valuation.

The first evening of WuW’s midwestern swing opened at one of the hottest culinary destinations in the city: RPM Steak.
A new venture by the same team behind Chicago institution RPM Italian, Steak played host to WuW’s delegation less than a week after accommodating a VIP detail from Air Force One.
Presidents aside, watchuwant.com arrived with a collection fit for a king; over $1,000,000 in premium-label luxury timepieces from the premier houses in Swiss horology made the journey to RPM for a night of close encounters of the hands-on variety.

Over five dozen clients, friends, and watch-curious newcomers to the luxury watch scene were encouraged to view, hold, and “test-drive” a collection that has few peers in the world. A WuW Event feels more like a guided tour of Switzerland’s “Watch Valley” than a visit to a conventional jewelry store.
Even compared to the largest authorized dealers and factory-run boutiques, the diversity, value, and sheer scale of the watch selection at a WuW Event are breathtaking. At watchuwant’s RPM Steak gala, prospective collectors encountering luxury watches for the first time were able to experience both entry-level luxury and $250,000 timepieces side-by-side.

Veteran collectors were able to view and wrist-fit examples of blue-chip collectibles such as the first-generation Rolex Explorer II “Steve McQueen,” “James Bond” Submariners, and the Apollo-era Omega Speedmaster Professional “Moonwatch.”

Emceed by Whatley and facilitated by his crew of two, the watchuwant.com evening at RPM Steak was a memorable occasion for all involved.
But the “main event” awaited on the following night…

The onslaught, led by a Scotch Superfan. That’s one way to beat the evening’s denim ban…
The Scotch Malt Whiskey Society’s “Whiskey Extravaganza” is the largest and most prestigious traveling exhibition and tasting event for North American connoisseurs of luxury malt spirits.
In partnership with the “Whiskey Extravaganza,” watchuwant.com held the first of six fall 2014 joint-events at the legendary Union League Club of Chicago on Thursday, October 9.
WuW point men Josh and Tim joined OJ in preparation to receive an estimated 200+ aficionados of premium potations, but even the most optimistic preliminary estimates were swamped by the eventual attendance of over 300.

Amid the grandeur of the Union League Club’s late-Victorian Main Ballroom, the watchuwant.com team spent the evening engaged in nonstop interaction as the full extent of the whiskey-watch axis of shared passion became apparent.
Friends new and old descended on the watchuwant exhibition by the hundreds, and all parties enjoyed lively exchanges about single barrel bourbon, Swiss watches, and mutual enthusiasm for the “good stuff” in all of its forms.

The watchuwant.com travel team invited guests to do more than examine and handle its inventory; WuW offered a chance to keep the good times flowing.
All visitors to both nights of watchuwant.com events were encouraged to enter their names in a drawing for three outstanding free gifts.
A two-unit Wolf watch winder, a $1,000 gift certificate to watchuwant.com, and two $250 tickets to the remaining schedule of the “Whiskey Extravaganza” were in play. The winners of the first WuW Events raffle shortly will be receiving their tokens of watchuwant.com’s gratitude.

watchuwant.com’s fall 2014 WuW Events calendar continues in association with the “Whiskey Extravaganza” events to be held in Boston on October 23, Washington, DC on November 4, Seattle on November 14, Los Angeles on November 20, and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. on December 4.
Each event will include a preliminary watchuwant.com “meet-and-greet” for friends of the brand on a night preceding the Extravaganza.
