Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Contemporaine: Emerging Icon (VIDEO BLOG)

Vacheron Constantin is a watchmaker with the wind in its sails. With a model lineup that reads like a hit list from the last ten SIHH Geneva watch shows, there isn’t a weak spot in the catalog… but there is a star…

The Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Contemporaine has been a defining model for the Geneva high-horology powerhouse since the debut of the first model in 2004. As of 2006, the reference 85180 automatic became the face of the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony model line.

Originally regarded as a heretic due to its use of a 40mm case, date window, and automatic-winding the Patrimony Contemporaine has become the definitive Vacheron and – perhaps – the first true icon of a brand that has never fielded signature watch in the mold of Patek Philippe’s Calatrava/Nautilus or Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak/Offshore.

With an 18-karat 5N red gold case, silvered 18-karat dial, and 18-karat hands and indexes, Vacheron brings the goods. The Vacheron Constantin Partimony is fine but never ostentatious. Its detailing is as sensitive and nuanced in the finest Geneva tradition.

Vacheron station within the Swiss watch “Holy Trinity” is reinforced by a tour-de-force: the caliber 2450 Q6 automatic movement. With anglage, dressage, perlage, and cotes de Geneve worthy of the famed Geneva Hallmark, the quality speaks for itself; the Vacheron Constantin Maltese Cross merely confirms what is manifest in the metal.
