Romain Jerome Titanic DNA La Grande: VIDEO REVIEW
Why only court controversy when you can embrace it with both arms? Romain Jerome throws subtlety and politically correct discretion to the wind with the Titanic DNA series.
Crafted from authentic steel salvaged from the Titanic and certified authentic by Harland & Wolf, the original builder, the Titanic DNA La Grande is 50mm of risqué business. Love it or hate it, this watch pulls no punches and makes its extrovert presence known.
Romain Jerome employs the retro-futuristic steampunk aesthetic to great effect. The Titanic DNA has the look of an Iron-Age industrial ruin spliced with the aggressive style of a contemporary sports watch. As if the Titanic steel weren’t provocative enough, the black gold dial is darkened with embedded carbon from recovered Titanic coal.
Skeletonized hands recall nautical anchors and traverse a dial insert bearing the likeness of riveted hull plates. A supple natural rubber strap and rugged deployant clasp ensure that this particular “Titanic” is safe for aquatic use, and a robust Swiss mechanical movement provides accurate timekeeping.
This upscale procateur is available from watchuwant.com with a full set of Romain Jerome factory boxes and accessories. Notably, the documentation includes a signed material authenticity certification from Harland and Wolf, the Titanic’s original constructor.
