My Fall Jewelry Wishlist: 5 Pieces I Can’t Stop Thinking About
There is something about fall that makes me want to wear jewelry differently. Summer is about color, bare skin and pieces you almost forget you have on; fall calls for a little more structure, texture and, dare I say, attitude. It’s just like choosing the right fall tone for your nail polish. As the layers start piling up, so does my jewelry: more gold, more diamonds, deeper colors and pieces with enough personality to hold their own against a cashmere sweater or a great jacket.
Here are the five pieces (or combinations) I want to wear on repeat this fall.
Jade Trau & Nouvel Heritage: The Bangle Stack
I have always been a firm believer that bangles are better together, especially when they aren’t too perfectly matched. I love combining Jade Trau’s Envoy Cluster Plié Bangle with one of Nouvel Heritage’s signature bangles: different designs, different rhythms, but somehow they just work. It’s the kind of stack that looks equally good peeking out from underneath the sleeve of a chunky knit as it does dressed up for dinner. If there is one piece of jewelry I will never tire of, it’s a diamond tennis bracelet; the difficulty is to own many. This fall, I’d wear several together, or just one really good one, with a preference for bezel-set diamonds, which make the classic feel instantly more contemporary. Cicada: Sapphire Snake Necklace
This might be the piece that best sums up my fall mood. Sapphires set against blackened gold give the classic snake necklace an unexpected edge: modern, slightly rock ‘n’ roll and incredibly easy to style. Cicada’s design is super soft, incredibly comfortable and works just as well with a white T-shirt as it does with an evening look. Added bonus: it’s surprisingly fun to play with when a meeting goes on for slightly too long.
Future Fortune: Pink Sapphire Flower Locket
Lockets inherently have something nostalgic about them, but Future Fortune manages to make this one feel anything but old-fashioned. I love the contrast between the brushed gold and the pink sapphire flower. The texture tones down the preciousness while the color gives it just the right amount of fun. It’s the kind of pendant that can completely make an outfit. And, of course, there is something wonderfully personal about a piece of jewelry that can keep a secret inside.
Gumuchian: Toi et Moi Rings
Forget choosing one combination. I genuinely want them all. Gumuchian takes the classic toi et moi idea and turns it into something much more playful. Fall, after all, is the season of layering. Sweaters over shirts, coats over sweaters and, naturally, jewelry over jewelry. If summer was about taking things off, consider this my excuse to start piling them back on.
