“It’s About TIME” D.C. Brings Down the House
Luxury watch leader watchuwant.com treated Washington, D.C. to the only “party” that mattered on Election Night 2014.
Amid a maelstrom of mid-terms, the latest event of the 2014 “It’s about TIME” Watch Enthusiast Get-Together tour was the clear winner on Tuesday, November 4.
Jack Rose, which is renowned for its singular selection of premium malt spirits, played host to a curated collection of a very different stripe as OJ and crew handed local watch collectors all-access privileges to $1,000,000 worth of exceptional timepieces.
The hands-on experience, which is unique in the luxury watch industry, offered both veteran aficionados and newly curious admirers the opportunity to evaluate their dream watches the way Switzerland intended: on the wrist.

“It’s About TIME” Watch Enthusiast Get-Togethers have visited Chicago and Boston in 2014, but Washington, D.C. on election night represented a new high-water mark for this fall’s national tour.
Exotic timepieces including tourbillons from Audemars Piguet, Roger Dubuis, and Hublot joined rare vintage references from Rolex, Panerai, and Patek Philippe for an evening in which “partisans” of each brand were able to engage in passionate “debates” regarding the merits of their favorites. As the word of “It’s About TIME” spreads, each event continues to build the series’ momentum as a destination for luxury watch enthusiasts of all descriptions.
While Washington, D.C. witnessed the best IAT watch selection yet, some of the most memorable exchanges arose as collectors brought their own timepieces to display, discuss, and compare.
One gentleman generously explained and showcased an exceptional Patek Philippe 3587 “Beta-21” that provided a unique thrill to fans of historic horology.

OJ and the “It’s About TIME” road team shared the evening with over sixty fellow watch enthusiasts, including numerous standout friends of the brand.
Several guests from Major League Baseball’s Washington Nationals traded high heat for high horology and spent the evening evaluating watches from Patek Philippe, F.P. Journe, and Chopard. Master bartender Trevor Frye of “Bar Rescue” reality TV fame was on hand to provide mixology know-how.
Trevor and his colleagues engaged OJ in a spirited discussion of luxury watches with the durability and style to succeed on both sides of the bar.

Although none of the timepieces were for sale at the event, (WuW Events are staged for goodwill purposes exclusively), the depth of interaction between participants provided opportunities, impressions, and memories beyond valuation.
Unseasonably warm and clear weather permitted “It’s About TIME” to enjoy open air and a brilliant waxing moon; Jack Rose’s retractable roof was as open as the bar, and high spirits from both kept the conversation lively and the time flying.

Each metropolitan event on the inaugural “It’s About TIME” national tour has forged memories of good food, good times, and great company.
As OJ Whatley and the watchuwant.com event team prepare for the first and only west coast swing of the fall tour, 2014 opportunities to join the WuW crew are dwindling. watchuwant.com’s fall 2014 WuW Events calendar enters the home stretch with a visit to Los Angeles on November 19 and concludes a triumphant debut year with WuW’s home-turf event in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. on December 3.
