The 1916 Company is pleased to announce a traveling exhibition honoring François-Paul Journe, master of contemporary horology, and the pivotal collections of his eponymous brand, F.P. Journe: GENERATIONS: A Timeline of F.P. Journe by The 1916 Company. A platform for scholarship and celebration, GENERATIONS will highlight Journe’s endless quest for technical excellence and chronometric perfection with a collection of more than 60 rare and exquisite pieces, and an open invitation to collectors, enthusiasts, friends, and journalists for exhibition viewing, private appointments, and conversations with The 1916 Company’s renowned experts.

Milestone collections and generations of innovation will be on display and available to purchase beginning on February 29 within a dedicated environment at the Four Seasons Hotel Miami, followed by two days at The 1916 Company’s Collector’s Lounge in the Miami Design District. The exhibition will then travel from coast to coast before landing in New York this spring, when the company inaugurates The 1916 Journe Gallery, a perpetual collection of F.P. Journe’s timepieces.

“François-Paul Journe is one of the most talented and inventive watchmakers, constantly addressing the push and pull between perfecting a historical craft and looking to the future. Collectors around the world and across The 1916 Company community have taken note. We look forward to coming together to celebrate the complexities and beauty with this event and with our upcoming ‘perpetual’ collection,” remarked Danny Govberg, co-founder of The 1916 Company. “Journe continues to create, and we continue to discover his masterpieces. As such, The 1916 Journe Gallery will be established in our New York lounge as an ever-evolving collection destined to reach new wrists.”

François-Paul Journe’s vision for complicated horology is succinctly communicated through the company motto – Invenit et Fecit – meaning “invented and made.” Journe’s timepieces are technically sophisticated, undeniably elegant, and represent new concepts and interpretations of modern watchmaking. The commitment to innovation is underscored through successive generations of the brand-defining Tourbillon Souverain and Chronomètre à Résonance collections, along with a seemingly endless list of world’s firsts in watchmaking.

Tim Mosso, The 1916 Company’s Director of Media and noted watch expert shared, “The emergence of elite indie auteurs defines this era’s watch landscape, but these brands remain young by any standard. Consequently, early François-Paul Journe timepieces sit at the forefront of the “new vintage” movement; they present a thrilling new frontier for collectors who take the long view.”
