Pre-Owned Panerai Radiomir 1940
About The Brand
The Panerai Radiomir 1940 collection draws inspiration from the brand's military watches that were designed for the Royal Italian Navy in the 1940s and 50s. In 2012, Panerai released two limited-edition models in red gold and stainless. Only 100 pieces of references PAM00399 and PAM00398 were released, now making them hard to come by. While this collection shares a name with Radiomir, the two families have some very noticeable differences. Radiomir 1940 watches feature a cushion-shaped case, thick fixed lugs, flat cylindrical crown, sharp corners, and a thicker bezel. Watches in the Radiomir collection have wire lugs, large flared crowns, thinner bezels, and rounded corners.

The Panerai Radiomir 1940 collection bridges the early elegance of the original Radiomir with the enhanced durability of modern Panerai cases. Introduced during a transitional period in Panerai's history, these watches are defined by their thicker, more angular case profiles and integrated lugs — moving away from the wire-lug design of the 1930s while retaining cushion-shaped DNA.

Radiomir 1940 vs. Other Panerai Case Families
The Radiomir 1940 differs from the original Radiomir in that it eliminates the wire lugs and introduces a thicker mid-case, offering increased structural integrity. While visually more refined than the Luminor 1950 , it retains military roots with a streamlined, elegant presentation on the wrist.
