Introducing The All New Breitling Superocean Heritage Collection For 2025: Live Photos, Full Specs And Pricing
The new collection, the first major update since 2017, keeps the connection to Breitling’s first dive watch, fine-tuned for today.
Although most of us naturally think of chronographs, and its history as an aviation supplier, when we think of Breitling, the company’s history of course encompasses a much wider range of watches (although technical watchmaking oriented towards aviation and the aerospace world is key to Breitling’s identity even today). Many enthusiasts will already be aware that Breitling produces a variety of dive watches in the Superocean and Superocean Heritage collections, but might be surprised to learn that the first Breitling dive watches – the Superocean references 1004 (time only) and 807 (a chronograph) were launched all the way back in 1957, making the Superocean part of the first generation of dive watches that also included the Omega Seamaster, Rolex Submariner, and the Blancpain 50 Fathoms.

In the following decades, Breitling would go on to produce high spec deep divers rated to 1000 meters (beginning with the ref. 81190 in 1983) eventually reaching 2000 meter ratings, and would debut automatic dive chronographs as well as innovations like its 1964 “Slow Motion” ref. 2005 – a diver’s chronograph modified so that the center chronograph hand rotates once per hour instead of once per minute, to aid in keeping track of dive time.
The Superocean Heritage line was first launched as a separate collection by Breitling in 2007, for the 50th anniversary of the debut of the original references. The new collection used the bezel design and handset from the 1957 Superoceans, but with smaller indexes than the elongated triangles used as dial markers on the original models. In 2017, Breitling launched the Superocean II collection, which updated the steel bezel of the 2007 Superoceans to a matte finished ceramic, and upgraded the movement from the ETA 2824-based caliber 19, to the caliber B20, which is Breitling’s version of the Tudor caliber MT5612.
Today Breitling has just announced the third major update to the Superocean Heritage Collection.
The new Superocean Heritage models represent a focusing of the collection on key designs and common design features across the range, and will entirely replace the previous Superocean Heritage watches. All the watches in the new collection will share certain common characteristics, including all steel cases, rubber or steel mesh Milanese bracelets tapering towards the clasp, and ceramic bezel inserts. Both bracelets and straps now fit flush with the cases, and there have been subtle changes to the dials, hands, and indexes across the entire range which reflect the original 1957 models. As with the previous collection, the Superocean Heritage collection is distinguished from the Superocean collection in a number of details, including the absence of crown guards in the Heritage models.

With the exception of the 36mm models, which will use the Breitling caliber B10 (Sellita SW 300 or ETA 2892 base) all watches except the Chronograph 42 and 44 models will be powered by Breitling caliber B31, which was introduced in Geneva last March in the Top Time B31.

The chronographs as expected will be powered by Breitling’s in house automatic B01 caliber, a modern vertical clutch column wheel controlled chronograph movement with 70 hour power reserve. All the new models will be chronometer certified by the COSC (the Contrôle Officiele Suisse des Chronomètres, which you might be interested to know, launched its own Instagram account this year ) across the board, including the 36mm model.

Colorways will be a combination of matching bezels in dials, in green, blue, black, and for some models, a very handsome combination of black or blue with gold hands, indexes, bezel markers, and red gold bezels and crowns.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Heritage Automatic 36, in green and blue
- Heritage B31 Automatic 40, in black and green,
- Heritage B31 Automatic 42, in blue, green, black, and black with rose gold
- Heritage B31 Automatic 44, green, black, and blue with rose gold
- Heritage B01 Chronograph 42, in blue, green, and black with rose gold

Finally, Breitling is also launching a special edition Breitling Superocean Heritage in partnership with one of the greats of the surfing world – none other than Kelly Slater, who has at 53 has been the World Surf League champion a record 11 times. The dial features a foliage pattern which Breitling says was inspired by “the light and shadows of a tropical canopy.” The Kelly Slater model is a limited edition of 500 pieces.
All models in addition to being certifed chronometers, will be water resistant to 200M/660 feet, including the chronographs.
All of the changes notwithstanding, these remain very recognizably Superocean Heritage watches, with all the distinctive features and technical capabilities of preceding Superocean Heritage watches. There is one more update to the collection that’s a subtle but unmistakeable connection to the original models from 1957 – the split circle and wedge marker at 12:00 first seen in the ref. 1004 and ref. 807, as well as the spearhead hands and indexes, are now present across all models, replacing the split index 12:00 marker in the outgoing collection.

The Breitling Superocean Heritage Collection: all models, steel cases water resistant to 200M, all COSC certified chronometers. All B31 models with the Breitling caliber B31 except the 36mm model which uses the caliber B10, and the chronographs, which use the caliber B01. The Heritage B31 Automatic 40 Kelly Slater is a limited edition of 500 pieces. All models available on either rubber straps, or stainless steel mesh bracelets with butterfly clasp. All models, cambered sapphire crystals, with sapphire display backs.
