Hublot adds layers. It’s just the Nyon-based watchmaker’s way of doing things; add to the list of accomplishments without surrendering old glories.

And it’s precisely that philosophy of building-on-success that led Hublot to the Big Bang Aero Bang All Black limited edition. This murdered-out chronograph, one of only 500 constructed, combines Hublot’s famed “fusion” concept with the latest in style and technology.

Consider Hublot’s history, and the Hublot Big Bang Aero Bang All Black makes perfect sense. As the first watchmaker to combine a rubber strap with a gold case (circa 1980) Hublot was an industry iconoclast that saw an opportunity to turn 2+2 into 5, and a hit-maker was launched. Revived in 2005 with the debut of the landmark “Big Bang,” the Hublot brand has gone from strength to strength while continuing to innovate with new material combinations.

This Hublot Big Bang Aero Bang All Black adds state-of-the-art ceramic to the mix. Ceramic is *the* watch material of the 21st century. It combines the scratch resistance of sapphire crystal with the powerful black tones of PVD metal. Unlike fragile PVD finishes, the ceramic is almost impossible to mar, and even if it receives a small blemish, ceramic is a homogenous material with no shiny surface to shine through from beneath.

Hublot’s Big Bang “Aero Bang” concept takes the seminal Hublot Big Bang – arguably the most influential sports watch of the last decade – and opens the movement from the dial size. The Aero Bang’s skeleton dial is expressive, open, and revealing of the machine beneath; its “open air” design language inspires the “Aero Bang” moniker.

Hublot‘s ceramic watch wears big, black, and… comfortably. The look is Mad Max meets Audemars Piguet, but the fit of the Hublot is shockingly good. Even on a smaller wrist, Hublot’s mastery of supple rubber straps and case ergonomics tames the 44mm span of this beast. The look is overpowering, but the wrist feel is a pure pleasure and “everyday” agreeable.
