About The Brand

Although the Elegance collection is only several years old, Grand Seiko has yet to disappoint collectors and enthusiasts looking for a wide array of impeccably precise and extraordinarily handsome dress watches. This family of timepieces includes both hand-wound, automatic, and Spring Drive movements, as well as a range of functions from date- and time-only models to pieces with GMT capabilities. Additionally, the Elegance suite introduces the new 9S63 manual-wind caliber featuring small seconds complications at the 9 o’clock and a power reserve indicator at the 3 o’clock. When fully wound, it boasts 72 hours of reserve, and the caliber’s accuracy is rated +5 to -3 seconds a day. Interestingly, this was the first manual-winding caliber from Grand Seiko in eight years. With the new movement came a new case design, available in three different metals including stainless steel, 18ct rose gold, and 18ct yellow gold. Unique to a Grand Seiko piece, the Elegance case is also Zaratsu-polished, giving it a distortion-free, flashy finish. Interested in browsing our suite of everyday dress watches ? Discover the Elegance Collection

Debuting in one of Grand Seiko’s most recent Elegance releases, four stand out references take center stage. Learn more about the pieces that help make this collection so noteworthy.

Ref. SBGK004

Featuring a 18ct rose gold case, this Grand Seiko Elegance model comes with a striking black Urushi lacquer dial. Because this distinctive watch is limited to only 150 units, it’s considered a highly-sought after piece.

Ref. SBGK002

This incredible model pairs a 18ct rose gold case with a red Urushi lacquer dial, and it’s finished with the signature Mt. Iwate pattern available in some Grand Seiko references. Particularly, the Urushi used in this dial is sourced from trees grown in and around the town of Joboji in Mt. Iwate, perhaps explaining why this piece is limited to just 150 units.

If you’re more of a yellow gold kind of collector, this 18ct yellow gold piece might be for you. Equipped with a dashing white dial and gold applied markers, this general release model is typically easier to find, and just as handsome on the wrist.

For those who prefer a stainless steel case, this model comes with a blue dial, the Mt. Iwate pattern, and applied markers. Again, this is a limited edition piece with only 1,500 units in circulation.

Aside from this memorable Elegance release, the collection is also home to a few other models worth mentioning like the “Thin Dress” SBGK007—a mechanical model that features a retro case and Grand Seiko’s iconic diamond-cut hour markers. Along the slim side, ref. SBGW262 is also compelling, outfitted with the caliber 9S64 with displays for the hours, minutes, and seconds from the central axis. If you’re interested in more niche pieces, be sure to also check out the SBGW257 model, a re-creation of the original 1960 Grand Seiko watch in honor of the brand’s 60th anniversary. Lastly, opt for a more whimsical route with the SBGJ251, a wristwatch that celebrates Japan’s change of seasons.
