About The Brand

Released in 2014, the F.P. Journe Élégante collection is a stand out suite in this independent watchmaker’s repertoire. Each Élégante watch features the trademarked Flat Tortue® case shape, a luminescent dial, and a revolutionary electro-mechanical movement. But perhaps most strikingly, the collection was the first from F.P. Journe to be designed specifically for women. Incorporating elements of femininity, elegance, and precision, François-Paul Journe achieved precisely what he set out to do—he said, “I created this watch because for 20 years, women have been asking me to design a watch for them...today the Élégante features the only electro-mechanical movement conceived and created for the luxury market and offering a true vision of luxury.” The stunning, tonneau-shaped titanium F.P. Journe Élégante is available in a 40mm iteration for women, and now a 48mm version for men. Ladies can browse strap colors like white, powder rose, and anthracite while men can select from rich hues like grey, burgundy, and deep blue. Learn More About the Élégante Watch

Unique to the collection, F.P. Journe’s impressive electro-mechanical movement provides a long autonomy of 8 to 10 years in daily use, and up to 18 years in standby mode. This complicated movement took 8 years to develop and allows the Élégante watch to be easily stopped and started again. Located on the dial at the 4:30 mark, the timepiece features a mechanical motion detector. When the watch is motionless, it switches to standby mode after 35 minutes to save energy. While in this mode, the microprocessor still keeps time while the mechanical parts stop moving. Once moved again, the hands automatically set to the current time by taking the shortest path, either clockwise or counterclockwise. Additionally, the Élégante is the only quartz watch with an exhibition caseback—and it doesn’t look like the everyday quartz watch, either. Although most quartz movements aren’t known for their dashing good looks, this collection took careful measures to ensure its style was as jaw-dropping as its working components.

In conjunction with the mesmerizing electro-mechanical movement, the F.P. Journe Élégante also boasts a vibrant luminescent dial that enhances readability and legibility. And in titanium versions, the glowing dial is reminiscent of white Mother of Pearl. If you’re interested in learning more about independent watchmakers like F.P. How Much Is an Élégante Watch?

When you purchase a F.P. Journe timepiece, you’re getting what you pay for—true craftsmanship, high quality, and extreme precision. Plus, the independent watchmaker produces a limited quantity of new pieces each year, heightening the demand for these remarkable wristwatches. Compared to the brand’s other collections like the Octa, Classique and Linesport which can demand anywhere between $60,000 to $150,00 and beyond, the Élégante is a more affordable Electromechanical quartz option with pre-owned models available for around $27,000. However, it’s worth noting that any pre-owned timepiece may fluctuate in price due to a myriad of factors including materials, demand, and condition to name a few.
